Hunting
Bosebuck Mountain Camps is at the center of a 200,000 acre wilderness with gated access to another 26,000 acre parcel. This pristine acreage provides prime habitat for wildlife and yielding an excellent population of birds, deer, moose and bear.  We can secure skilled guides for you (with or without dogs for bird hunters) and we are a Licensing Agent and Big Game Registration for the Maine Inland Fisheries & Wildlife Department.  Now our lodging guests or local sportsmen can purchase a license or tag their deer, bear, or yes, even a turkey right here at camp.
Since Bosebuck Mountain Camps is located just 3 miles from the New Hampshire border, it offers double the options available to our hunters.  We have guides on staff that are registered in both Maine and New Hampshire who are more than willing to provide their expertise to enhance your hunting experience.  In addition our staff, we can also secure the services of local guides who have grown-up in the area and have traversed every nook and cranny of these mountains.

Bird Hunting
Bosebuck Camps offers the very best Ruffed Grouse and Woodcock hunting in New England. 20 flushes a day is typical (mostly grouse). This season starts the first of October. We boast all sorts of bird cover: abandoned logging roads, regenerating clearcuts and golden beech ridges. Our tremendous stands of mixed spruce, alder and poplar produce world class upland bird hunting, especially for grouse. The woodcock prefer the damper, low-lying areas near our rivers and streams.

Deer Hunting
As the name of our dining room indicates, the deer in this region are big but can be elusive.  We have been more fortunate over the past couple of winters than other parts of the state and the herd in this region is healthy and strong.
Bosebuck Mountain Camps’ hunters have the opportunity to hunt mountainous, vast wooded areas where you have a good chance of not seeing another hunter all week.   Although this terrain would prompt you to be proficient with map and compass or GPS, there are natural borders such as lakes, rivers and roads that will make some hunters more comfortable in these big woods. Our guides will show or direct you to areas of good game movement and help you with any questions you might have about certain areas. We do have access to gated land north of camp, for an even more remote hunting experience.
The weather during the deer hunting season can be anywhere from t-shirts to wool pants and long-johns. There is a good chance of tracking on snow the last two weeks of the season but not always! It is well advised to be prepared for all potential weather conditions.
Although the number of deer per square mile is not great, the hunters that stay with us come for that crack at that large bodied buck we all dream about and sometimes see. We are close enough to New Hampshire to hunt the Pittsburg, NH (with a NH license) area too.
Still hunting and tracking, if conditions are right, are the most often used methods of hunting in this area.  If you are a stand hunter, we can also offer a strategically placed stand at active crossings. If you prefer to carry a muzzle loader when hunting, call and ask about the limited muzzle loader hunt, with no more than 6 hunters for the entire week.
As with our bear hunt, in on Sunday and out on the following Sunday, for a six day hunt.  Weekly package includes lodging, meals and cabin services but does not include Tax, Gratuity or licenses.    you can tell from the name. Check out our affordable deer hunting package rates

Moose Hunting
The best kept secret is the local Moose population around our camps. We have gated access to 26,000 acres of private lands where Moose very few people have had the opportunity to hunt. Over the past few years, several 50+ inch bulls have been spotted AFTER the end of the Moose hunting season. This year Bosebuck is offering a special Moose hunting package with our very own Registered Maine Guide.

Bear Hunting
Bosebuck Mountain Camps offers a quality bear hunt over bait.  We limit each of the four available weeks to no more than 6 hunters to be sure each person gets the attention they deserve for a quality hunt. We have access to a very large parcel of gated property, which had never been commercially hunted until 2004 by Bosebuck guests.  This area has an abundant population of large bear in a mountainous, remote setting.  Our strategically placed sites are equipped with double ladder stands that provide enough room even if you choose to have another person accompany you. Being located behind a gate allows us to offer bait hunting for all 4 weeks of the season without the worry of interferences.
We have had several experienced hunters come and stay at Bosebuck who could not believe the size of the bear that they saw from our stands.  Don’t be shy about asking for references as our previous guests are all too happy to share their experiences with you.
This is a six day hunt - in on Sunday, out on Sunday.  Meals, lodging and cabin services are included. If you have a group of four, then the fourth is half price.  Transportation to and from the sites, field dressing of the harvested animal and removal from the woods are all included.  Arrangements for butchering services can be made, but butchering is not included.   Licenses are not included.  Short on time but still want to hunt?  Call and inquire about our three day hunts that may be available.
